We are compassionate people. We want to help those in poverty. We spend billions. Yet our welfare system is old and decrepit. It is in desperate need of repair. We spend billions –enough for $14,099 for each individual in poverty. $56,394 for a family of four. Wouldn’t it be great to create welfare 2.0 and use what we have learned over the last 50 years? Too bad we are so divided as a nation because that would really be something.
