The Department of Agriculture says “Every additional dollar’s worth of SNAP benefits generates 17 to 47 cents of new spending on food.” The taxpayers say – well at least we didn’t lose it all.
The Department of Agriculture says “Every $5 in new SNAP benefits generates $9.00 in total community spending”. The economists say – let’s tax $5.00 of the $9.00 gain, than send it right back as SNAP benefits and repeat until our communities are overflowing with money and we don’t have poverty anymore.
The Department of Agriculture says “SNAP benefits are Federal funds. By increasing the number of people in SNAP, communities can bring Federal money into their States and communities.” The middle class says – something doesn’t seem quite right with that plan.
The Department of Agriculture says “Nutrition educators teach SNAP participants the importance of a quality diet, how to prepare healthy foods, and how to make healthy choices.” Welfare participants say– well OK, but we still get the Twinkies right?
